I reached out to Jesus for help with budgeting and guidance on the home-buying process. I had questions about how much mortgage we could realistically afford, and Jesus provided clear, practical advice. What I really appreciated about working with him was how personable and genuine he is — it never felt like he was just trying to make a quick buck. I could tell he genuinely had our best interest in mind and wanted to help us make smart financial decisions. Highly recommend his services to anyone looking for honest and thoughtful financial guidance!

“Jesus is a great teacher and takes the time to explain difficult topics in a way that you can easily understand. He is knowledgeable and can help you come up with a plan to help you succeed financially. I enjoyed his expertise, motivational spirit, and can-do attitude. After each session, I left with valuable insights and a clear action plan with next steps.”
Money was a constant problem during my childhood. I lived in a basement with my mom for the first part of my life. My biological father was absent, and money was scarce. Later, my mom remarried my stepdad, who also had financial issues, including debt and child support. They declared bankruptcy. My mom, an immigrant worker, tirelessly managed our finances while raising me alone, with little family support. As I grew older, I saw her struggle to pay bills and wished someone would help. I didn’t realize it then, but I would become that help for others as a financial coach. I learned that money significantly impacts our lives.
As a child, I didn't learn much about money other than to work hard and give generously. My first financial education started at high school when I learned from Dave Ramsey, sparking my journey into understanding money. Since then, I've sought mentorship from books, online groups, and people like Mark Moss, Jaspreet Singh, and Kelsa Dickey.
I studied cyber security in college but switched to becoming a diesel technician, repairing John Deere tractors. During this time, I focused on improving my financial knowledge, eventually completing a financial coaching master training under Dave Ramsey’ organization. Continuing my education as a financial coach under Kelsa Dickey. I enjoyed helping others with their money issues for free before turning it into a career.
The technician job was stressful, and I struggled with high turnover in leadership. Then having to go coach right after wasn’t easy. However, after two hours of helping a client, I felt energized and excited about the coaching work. The client was energized and excited to implement what we talked about.
The real test, in my opinion, of my financial coaching journey has been adding my wife into the mix. Budgeting is hard enough by yourself. Two different people coming together to the same thing is challenging. We were able to figure it out. So can you! I remember discussing my decision to train as a financial coach with my now wonderful wife, who encouraged me to pursue my passion. We planned together, and that's how Magallan Financial Coaching was born!
